‘One More Time’ NWFBA Virtual Celebratory Evening
Thursday 28 January 2021, 7-8:30pm
‘One More Time’ is an evening of online celebration, reunions, storytelling, catching up with friends and maybe even some dancing! It’s the perfect chance to relive the magic from the North West Family Business Awards 2020, to recap some of the highlights from the night and to stay connected with the North West Family Business community.
The night will be hosted online with Nigel Barden, alongside Sue Howorth and Dave Clarkson, and music from our infamous fiddle player Richard Sanderson. Whilst we are unable at this stage to plan a date for #NWFBA2021, we wanted to give everyone involved (finalists, judges, winners, guests, sponsors and supporters) a much-needed interim pick-me-up and a chance to reinvigorate ourselves with some of that unique vibrancy that surrounds our Awards. Rest assured, we will be announcing details for our next live Awards event when things become clearer.
This planned reunion will also be the launch for our newly founded charity, The Family Business Foundation. We invite you to find out more about the charity and make an optional donation should you wish to do so (there will be no charge for tickets to attend ‘One More Time’). Further details on the Foundation can be found via the book now button.

Family Business Research Workshop: Insights on COVID-19 and Social Impact
Friday 05 February 2021
Online/ MS Teams (hosted by the Lancaster University Management School)
The IFB Research Foundation and Centre for Family Business at Lancaster University Management School are collaborating to host a research workshop to bring family business researchers and practitioners together for a multi-disciplinary conversation about the direction of travel for family business research in the UK.
Two main themes will run through the conversation: the social and community impact of family businesses, and the research implications of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This research workshop will host researchers, family business owners, and practitioners to come together to share their experiences and insights.
The event will cover the following central themes and questions:
- The challenges presented by COVID-19 for family firms in the UK and the implications for family business research in the UK.
- The social impact of family firms – what are the main currents in social research on family businesses?
- How can researchers and academics better engage family businesses in our research activities to achieve more impact?
- The research priorities and future plans of the IFB Research Foundation.
Also included in the programme will be an online open space where participants will be able to share their research priorities, plans and ideas with colleagues.
The event is free to attend and places can be booked via the following link (please register by 29th January):
North West Family Business Awards 2021
The North West Family Business Awards are organised and run by The Family Business Network, and provide a fantastic opportunity for family businesses of all shapes and sizes to share and celebrate their success stories.
The inaugural North West Family Business Awards in 2020 took off in first class style, beneath the wings of the Concorde at Manchester Airport.
We are fully committed to celebrating the North West’s amazing family businesses in 2021 with #NWFBA2021, however are currently unable to give a date for our awards ceremony due to covid-19.
How we do this is still in the planning, as it is our intention to host a live Awards ceremony, rather than one online to protect the vibrant and special atmosphere of the NWFB Awards! With this in mind, we are holding off setting a definite date until things are a little clearer, all the while keeping the health and safety of our attendees and our team at the front of our minds.
In the meantime, we would invite you to make an expression of interest so that when the time comes, you will be best placed to get that application form in and begin your #NWFBA2021 journey.
