The Chopping Block of Penrith, a family business based in Cumbria, has launched a brand-new online shop. Focusing on the produce the team enjoy the most themselves, it showcases the very best from their Butchery and Deli counters, as well as choice goodies from their shelves.

After opening in June 2019, The Chopping Block has steadily built a strong reputation for its exceptional produce, friendly service and sustainable focus – resulting in them being named the UK’s Best New Butchery earlier this year.

Chris Clough, owner of the family business, said “Having an online shop was something we always had in the back of our minds for the future, but the past year we’ve seen such support from customers new and old, we decided to take the plunge and launch now.”

The selection features a carefully curated selection of the Chopping Block’s most popular produce, including a Dry Aged Steak Sharing Box, a Cheesemonger’s Giftset, Cumbrian Hampers and, a customer favourite, their Westmorland Sausages.

“Customers will be able to choose from Click and Collect or national delivery. We’ve partnered with DPD to offer carbon neutral deliveries and, by using plastic-free wool insulation, we’re aiming to ensure our parcels are as sustainable as possible. It was important to us to safeguard our values and high standards – so whether you swing by the shop in person, or you buy some goodies online and have them delivered, the quality of our produce is exactly the same.”

As our shopping habits have changed, more of us are choosing to buy online and send gifts from independent businesses. “It’s definitely something we’ve seen an increase in. I think we all focused in on food during lockdown, since it was the only routine that many of us had. We were getting so many requests to prepare thoughtful hampers from all over the UK, it just made sense to launch our online shop a little earlier than planned!”

The Chopping Block is open Tuesday – Saturday, 9:00 – 4:30.
