Cumbrian legal firm offers free import/export training workshops

UK200 Group member, Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors are able to offer their clients free training workshops around EU Import & Export Changes.

The workshops are grant funded by the government and Cartmell Shepherd are advising businesses to act fast to secure the free training, whilst available.

The workshops are a great opportunity to brush up on your import/ export knowledge. For example, did you know that:

  • Currently most imports from the EU cross the borders without need for official paperwork
  • When we leave the EU (31/12/2020) the import and export of goods rules will change
  • As of 31/12/2020 an import/export entry will have to be made to HMRC and customs duty may need to be paid either at the UK or EU border
  • The UK Government expect that 50,000 extra people will be needed to deal with completing import/export entries

So, how could this impact your business? If your goods arrive at EU borders with incorrect paperwork you could see:

  • your goods held up at the point of import/export
  • errors resulting in duty being over or under paid
  • investigations by HMRC once either the import/export declaration has been completed
  • penalties imposed for incorrect declarations

How can Cartmells help? Cartmell Shepherd are offering this training to their business clients through their membership with UK200Group

The workshops will be held virtually, in small groups of no more than 4-5 people. The training will be tailored to your business/ industry requirements, and even furloughed staff can take part. The training is done by a fully accredited Customs training provider, who has advised on indirect tax matters for over 30 years including time spent as a Customs Duty trainer for HMRC.

The workshops will cover the following areas (but is not limited to):
