Get peer advice at insight events and June conference…

RECENT family business insight events held by the Network and Langleys Solicitors across the region have highlighted the need for firms to talk about their future plans.
Does everyone want to be involved with the family business and its future legacy? One business recently told the Network, “Despite all the external advisors telling us we needed to talk, we felt the conversation had to be initially approached by us and when we were ready it took place around the kitchen table.”

This may be the start of family counsel, but it may be necessary to seek external guidance to help those conversations develop. The business in question now has quarterly kitchen table conversations away from the board room.

“This may seem a small step for some but it was huge for us.” Problems need facing to help put preventative measures in place rather than be reactive. The Network offers people the chance to speak to their peers in other family businesses so that the lessons learnt can be taken back to their own concerns.

The next Insight event in Lincolnshire and surrounding areas is on Wednesday, May 8 with Lincolnshire Poacher Cheese, followed by the Family Business Network Conference at the International Bomber Command Centre on Thursday, July 4. For more details on these event see www.fambiznet.co.uk/events
